On October 14 The Downtown Artery & The Lyric will be hosting a one of a kind event. This event will be focused on Mental Health, an important part of our ever modernizing society. This event will feature presentations from a wide variety of speakers, a Fist Friday show dedicated to the cause, a special story slam hosted by Nathan Scott and Kenny Wistz, and lastly, special musical guests, members of Wasteland Hop with Sam Hanus.
“The mission of Break Open is to challenge perceptions, break down stigma, and provide people tools for their mental toolkit.”
This topic has recently been slowly garnering the right kind of exposure, according to NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) 1 in 5 Adults in America live with Mental Illness every day. Break Open and the accompanying first Friday gallery show on the 7th, all have the capacity to raise awareness and spread ideas.
“This is a free event brought to you with love, fueled by a desire to help one another and make the world a slightly less lonely place.”
