It’s party time! St. Patrick’s Day may technically be on Thursday, March 17, but that’s not a very practical day to party hard… so come celebrate in Old Town this Saturday, March 12.
The day starts with the 18th Annual Sharin’ O’ the Green 5k produced by Partners Mentoring Youth from 8-1o a.m. The race starts and finishes at Library Park, 200 Mathews St. There will be a kids run and an adult run.
Next, head to College Ave. to watch Lucky Joe’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade at 10 a.m. The parade route begins on Walnut Street, turns on College Ave., and travels through downtown. This is a super popular event, so get there early if you can. Also, attempt to get a spot on the east side of College Ave., that way you can easily get to Old Town Square and Linden Street for the music and festival after the parade. If you’re on the west side of College Ave. for the parade, you’ll have to wait for the street to re-open before crossing the street to get to the festival.
The Old Town Irish Party starts at 10 a.m. and goes until 5 p.m. This festival stretches through Old Town Square and down Linden Street. This free event has a “green beer garden,” Odell microbrews, green Coors Light, food trucks, and live music. The Seers will perform from noon to 1 p.m., Shaley Scott will perform from 1:30-2:30 p.m., and Blue Grama will perform from 3-4:30 p.m.
After the festival ends, the day is still not complete without taking advantage of the last weekend of Great Plates! Take your pick of 36 great restaurant deals for dinner.
