This holiday season Midtown Arts Center’s has the perfect holiday production for anyone who loves Christmas songs. They’ve created an original production, “Merry and Bright,” that really stands up to their usual holiday performance, “White Christmas.”
This show, conceived and produced by Kurt Terrio and Jalyn Courtenay Webb, has all of your favorite holiday songs. While the holiday classics were a joy to listen to, one of my favorite parts was their fabulous rendition of “Let It Go” from Disney’s Frozen. Watching the cast fight for the last toy in the store on Christmas Eve while singing this song was the funniest part of the musical.
The cast, Amanda Blair, Brian Gay, Christian Mark Gibbs, and Marissa Rudd, is extremely talented at both singing and acting. You’ll enjoy classics like “I’ll be home for Christmas,” “The Christmas Song,” “Joy to the World,” “Colorado Christmas,” “Carol of the Bells,” and “O Holy Night.” They somehow manage to tie all these carols together with a heartwarming, yet funny, plot. And since Midtown is a dinner theater, you’ll also feast on a holiday buffet full of turkey, ham, mashed potatoes and Christmas cookies.
Tickets are $44 and the show runs now until January 2. “Merry and Bright” is the perfect way to get into the holiday spirit, and Midtown does it up right!
