What do you think of when you hear the name Marilyn? To me, one word sums it up… fascinating. The current exhibit at the Fort Collins Museum of Art, simplistic as it my be, offers a multi-dimensional glimpse into the fascinating life of Marilyn Monroe. The photos and paintings currently showing at FCMOA are cleanly displayed with thorough captions. Nude photos are tucked away in a corner with a sign to warn younger eyes. I highly encourage you to take a peak before the artwork leaves our town. I wasn’t allowed to take pictures, but I managed to get a nondescript shot of what you can expect. Museum supporters spend tireless amounts of time bringing world-class exhibits to Northern Colorado; take the time to see and read about Monroe’s interesting, yet tragic life. The touring exhibit contains studio and candid shots.
You probably often walk by the art museum located at the corner of College & Oak Street plaza without venturing inside. Well, the Marilyn: Celebrating an American Icon exhibit ends this Saturday, December 27; Take your family before it’s gone for good. Museum members get in for free, admission prices are minimal considering what it supports. FCMOA are closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, but any family staying with you after the holiday will surely be able to spend some time looking at the everyday and glamorous sides of Marilyn Monroe.
